Justin Wesley Allen, 62, died at his home in McGregor on Thursday, Feb. 20. Funeral
services were held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Prairie du Chien, Wis., on February 22, with burial in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly on Saturday afternoon. The Waverly American Legion Post participated in the graveside service.
Mr. Allen was born on May 10, 1906 near Plainfield. As a small child he moved to Waverly with his parents and attended and graduated from Waverly schools. He married Lucinda Bovers on June 3, 1930 and worked at the Waverly Publishing Company. They moved from Waverly in 1942 and lived in Marshalltown and Spirit Lake before moving to McGregor ten years ago. At the time of his death, they were operating the McGregor Motel.
He was a member of the Waverly Masons and in later years a member of the Waterloo Shrine. A Masonic service was held on Friday evening.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Lucinda, and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Herbert Buth of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Fred Dettmer of Waverly. His parents and an infant brother preceded him in death.
