Bruce William Jensen, 69, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

Bruce was born on December 28, 1949, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Ruth (Miller) and Wayne Jensen. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace United Church of Christ in Waverly. Bruce grew up in Waverly and graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock in 1968. Bruce proudly served in Vietnam for the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile) from June 16, 1970, until his honorable discharge on December 23, 1971. On November 5, 1982, Bruce married the love of his life, Becky Winkey.

As a teenager, Bruce enjoyed his job at the Waverly Sales Company. He had a lifelong passion for farming. He was a livestock and crop farmer for many years, raising dairy, beef and hogs. He loved animals especially his many dogs over the years. Bruce also liked playing cards, visiting with friends and family, and good food and drink. He liked playing practical jokes on people and seeing how gullible they are.

Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Becky; sister, Sandy (Lloyd) Martin of Tripoli, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Ellen (David) Doese of Fairbank and Linda (Will) Hamilton of Waverly; mother-in-law, Shirley Winkey of Shell Rock; nine nieces and nephews, Stacy Hamilton, Katie (David) Schwartz, Jeff “Buster” (Ann) Martin, Danielle Hamilton, Jon (Katherin Pogyo) Doese, Brenton (Lindsey) Doese, Sarah Doese, Joel Martin and John (Kathy) Martin; four great-nephews; and three great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Dale Winkey; and brother-in-law, Chuck Winkey.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019, at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock with Pastors Kim Smith and Emma Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Harlington Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by Waverly Area Veterans Group Honor Guard. Public visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
