Born in Pennsylvania about 1843. Came to Iowa in Bremer County before the war with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Robt. Tayler. Eril from Horton in the company made up at Horton, Iowa. July 25, 1862 went first to Dubuque to enter south and a few months later became ill whe n so many of the company were sick by disease from southern swampy condition. In the spring he was sent north on a furlough to recuperate but died here near 5-1863. The second soldied to be burried in Horton Cemetery. The father died a few years afterwards and the old settlers seem to think Mrs. Taylor married again – no farther record as no relativeslive in county now.
