
Explorer’s Club Summer Lunch & Enrichment Program Site Supervisor
Contract Position, June 5 – August 15, 2018
Position Summary
This position will supervise the waverly Explorer’s Club’s Summer Lunch & Enrichment program. The site supervisor will ensure successful compliance with food safety procedures and will ensure successful implementation of an intentional enrichment program. The site supervisor is responsible for recruiting and coordinating volunteers, problem-solving to ensure continued operation of the program, and is the on-site person in charge of all operations including any potential disciplinary actions. The site supervisor will need to be available Monday – Friday, approximately 10:30 am – 2 pm (except July 4th).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Pre-Program
- Complete all mandatory food safety trainings required by the Northeast Iowa Food Bank
- Assist with recruitment of a minimum of 2 onsite volunteers each day
- Assist with program outreach/marketing
Safety
- Ensure daily compliance with USDA and food safety regulations
- Ensure safe behavior of program participants, parents, and volunteers
- Supervise Larrabee Center staff assisting with food service & clean-up
Enrichment
- Contact Explorer’s Club activity leaders one week in advance to confirm their participation and that needed supplies will be available
- Purchase supplies, as needed for Explorer’s Club activities and submit appropriate receipts within 2 business days
- Lead transition from lunch program to Enrichment program and ensure youth engagement in enrichment activities
Volunteers
- Supervise daily volunteers (track attendance & assign tasks)
- Implement volunteer appreciation efforts
Participants
- Track attendance each day, including developing and maintaining a list of contact information for all children attending the program and complete required reports
- Communicate regularly with participant families to ensure families are receiving appropriate referrals for services which may be of assistance
Post-Program
- Ensure facility is returned to pre-program condition
- Assist with planning and implementation of end of summer celebration event
- Conduct presentation for the Waverly Food Secure Network
- Assist with program evaluation
Qualifications
- Any offer of contract is contingent upon completion of a clear background check
- College degree or equivalent combination of youth experience preferred
- Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrated leadership skills to complete projects
- High degree of organization
- The ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to perform with little supervision
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting the Food Bank’s mission and social justice
- A valid and current driver’s license with access to reliable transportation
- Experience with recruiting and supervising volunteers strongly preferred
- Experience supervising children ages 5 – 18 is required
Compensation Range
$3,000 – $3,500 based on experience and availability
