Born in Erie Pa. June 15, 1821 Moved to Plymouth Ohio in 1836 and in in 1851 he went with a group of men to California where he was aminer. In 1860 he returned to Plymouth Ohio. 3-4-1861 he was married to Elizabe[th] Fishburn. Shortly afterwards he enlisted in Co. A 105 Ill Inf. came to Waverly Ia and resided in a farm until 1899 when he moved into Waverly to live. In 1904 Mrs. Cain died he then went to the home of a daughter to live until his death 1-18-1911 at Waverly, Ia.
